Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on court had caused some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
